How do I start an automation when someone reaches another one's goal?
Use the Reached an automation goal trigger and pick the source automation. Every time someone reaches its goal, the new automation starts for that person. Example: whoever converts in a launch warm-up goes straight into the sales sequence.
Role: any member with access to the workspace.
Before you start
- The source automation needs a Goal. See how to set an automation goal.
Steps
- Open (or create) the automation that will be started.
- In the trigger, open the Contacts, Tags & Lists category and pick Reached an automation goal.
- Pick the source automation — it is the trigger's only field. The automation you are editing is not in the list: it cannot be started by its own goal.
- Save and publish.
The trigger card shows the source automation and, under Today:, its goal title, such as Purchase approved, Boleto Generated and 3 more.
The trigger follows the goal as it is today
The trigger does not keep a copy of the goal. If someone changes the criteria on the source automation, what starts this automation changes too.
If the source automation loses its goal
- Goal removed: before you confirm Remove goal, the window lists the automations that will stop starting.
- Automation deleted: when you delete an automation others depend on, Other automations depend on this goal appears with their list. To go ahead, click Delete anyway. In a bulk delete, these automations aren't deleted with the rest: a second confirmation lists, for each one, which automations will stop receiving entries. If you keep them, the rest of the selection is deleted as usual.
After that, the dependent automation shows the error The source automation no longer has a goal. Choose another one or set a goal on it. and cannot be activated until the trigger is fixed. If it was already active, it is not turned off — but it is no longer started by that goal.
